New touch and pen computer Interface
Technology Illustrated has a article on a new touch and pen interface that can be used together for a much better total control of a computer.
From the post, “The interface’s most interesting features come out when the two types of interaction are combined. For example, a user can copy an object by holding it with one hand and then dragging the pen across the image, “peeling” off a new image that can be placed elsewhere on the screen. By combining pen and hand, users get access to features such as an exacto knife, a rubber stamp, and brush painting.”

Pogoplug – Cool device
I am always looking for new cool gadgets that make my Internet and computing life easier. Pogoplug fits that description perfectly.
This little device connects to your home network via standard network cable and lets you share all you selected files over the Internet. It seems I am always at a friends house or some away place that I need some file from my home computer and this is the answer. Pogoplug has a USB 2.0 interface so you can add a hard drive or a USB stick if you so desire instead of the hard drive in your computer.
Security is always a big question when sharing files. Pogoplug uses HTTPS for secure password protected access over the Internet. iPhone users have a app that they can download to access your Pogoplug. Cost is $129.00 from the Pogoplug web site. A quick search did not find a cheaper price for this new version.
One problem is it is pink, but you can hide it behind your desk or get out the paint brush.

Cisco and MPAA/RIAA
Cisco has introduced a new Internet router for ISP’s that allows speeds to residential customers at 1gigabit. This is about 100 times faster than the current routers can handle Internet data. What this will mean to us is that we will be able to get High Definition quality movies and videos over the Internet with out degradation.
The articles continues with an excellent explanation on why the MPAA/RIAA is against this new technology. Basically they have no idea on how to implement anything relating to the internet or the use of any digital medium. In stead of repeating the article here, please read the article at the Time Magazine web site.
