The biggest whiners – “The Music Indus...

The biggest whiners – “The Music Industry”

Again the music industry has it’s head up is a$$ trying to bully everyone that does not move to their whims.
Here is another great story that confirms the above statement.

“A 20/20 report from 1980 shows how the music industry has falsely complained over the years that it’s dying, back then blaming FM radio, home taping, and physical piracy for massive job layoffs and declining profits.
There’s nothing more refreshing in the morning than a good laugh, and that’s exactly what I got this morning thanks to a video unearthed from the depths of 1980. It’s a 20/20 report on the state of the music industry nearly three decades ago and in it we see Joe Smith, President of Elektra-Asylum records, ironically lamenting the mounting profit losses and subsequent massive job layoffs.
It’s obviously a familiar refrain we’ve heard for more than a decade now, though the threats and perceived bogeyman have changed.”

Take some time to read this article and watch the videos.

Will Obamacare cost you?

Will Obamacare cost you?

IF you work for Boeing and are in management it will. What if you don’t? Lets look at the following from (AP). Someone has to pay for the uninsured and that someone is a working class person who received benefits from their employer. So, if a major company like Boeing is expecting a cost increase so will the company you work for. Therefore look for less benefits or higher cost of the benefits you are currently getting, and you owe this all to Obamacare.

“WASHINGTON (AP) — Aerospace giant Boeing is joining the list of companies that say the new health care law could have a potential downside for their workers.
In a letter mailed to employees late last week, the company cited the overhaul as part of the reason it is asking some 90,000 nonunion workers to pay significantly more for their health plan next year. A copy of the letter was obtained Monday by The Associated Press.
“The newly enacted health care reform legislation, while intended to expand access to care for millions of uninsured Americans, is also adding cost pressure as requirements of the new law are phased in over the next several years,” wrote Rick Stephens, Boeing’s senior vice president for human resources.”

Web Censorship Bill – Must Read

Web Censorship Bill – Must Read

“A markup on SJC Chairman Leahy’s IP infringement bill was postponed late Wednesday, as staffers anticipated the chamber would finish legislative work and adjourn for recess before the hearing could commence,” says Politico.

A group of 87 prominent engineers who played critical roles in the development of the Internet have also voiced their objections to the COICA in a joint letter submitted to the US Senate Judiciary Committee.

“If enacted, this legislation will risk fragmenting the Internet’s global domain name system (DNS), create an environment of tremendous fear and uncertainty for technological innovation, and seriously harm the credibility of the United States in its role as a steward of key Internet infrastructure,” they warn. “In exchange for this, the bill will introduce censorship that will simultaneously be circumvented by deliberate infringers while hampering innocent parties’ ability to communicate.”

US Government – Congress – rating = 0

US Government – Congress – rating = 0

The Pew Research center does all kinds of ratings about just about everything political, government, etc. Back in April they published an article the said our faith in the Congress and our government were at it lowest since back in 1994. In the article there a number of interesting charts to view. I know you don’t have to look at charts to know how poor congress and the federal government are performing, but take a look anyway.

TV and Video choices now restricted

TV and Video choices now restricted

The MPAA has finally won the battle and now your choices for video contact on TV via cable will be limited. The FCC has succumbed to the high dollar lobbyist from the MPAA and has agreed to the “Selectable Output Control” (SOC) meaning that they, not you, can choose what can be recorded on your own TV. This is a sad day for consumer rights.

Michael Weinberg of Public Knowledge said “it is frustrating when somewhere like the Media Bureau of the FCC, which should be looking out for the public interest, accepts “because we want it, and we are studios” as a compelling reason to screw millions of Americans.”

“If this proves anything else, it’s that regulators have been bought and sold by the very industry’s they are suppose to regulate. If you didn’t believe it before, this case should add to a mountain of evidence that proves it. (Zeropaid.com)

THE web site to purchase movies

Most all sites that sell movies such as Amazon, Blockbuster have one major problem. They support the studios that use DRM to protect you from being able to copy a movie you purchased. This site is an exception. All the movies they sell are DRM FREE! They deserve your support for supporting user rights and not the rights of the RIAA.

Please look to this site FIRST when looking for a movie to purchase on download. Their selection is very good with a lot of lesser known movies that are worth owning and viewing.

US Free Speech – only if politically correct

US Free Speech – only if politically correct

The Rev. Franklin Graham was denied the opportunity to lead the “National Day of Prayer” this coming May 6 because of his views of Islam. Since Rev. Graham is a Christian and has Christian principals which conflict with Islam principals and therefore not “politically correct”, he was asked not to pray at the Pentagon.

According to spokesman Col. Tom Collins, “We’re an all-inclusive military.” Col. Tom Collins must believe that military inclusiveness does not extend to those who speak the truth about Islam.
